Congratulations to Silvana and the team behind Ela, continuing its winning streak with the Grand Prix Best Film Award at the Tehran International Short Film Festival this week.
Scarlet Sunrise played at Munich’s International Festival of Film Schools, where it won the Arri Award for Best Documentary. The jury commented that the film ‘provides a melancholic view of a lonely Norwegian coal mining village. Through its carefully chosen and precisely composed images and bizarre, entertaining situations, it leaves a strong impression of a life deprived of many commodities, a life in stark contrast to our affluent society. The jury presents Scarlet Sunrise this award for its striking combination of close social observation, outstanding artistic skill and good humour.’
We’re also delighted to announce that Tibor Banoczki’s Milk Teeth and Peque Varela’s 1977 have been nominated at the forthcoming British Animation Awards.
